“Free Indian market will be well over 500 artists representing the core families of the traditional peoples of the Southwest,” said Gregory Schaaf, the market's organizer and founder. The purpose of the market, he said, is “to honor and support Indian Market elders and other master artists and their families. Many are living treasures, lifetime achievement awardees and top prize winners.” The market is free to artists and the public. (See story on page 24 for more information.)
