Former tennis center for now a movie studio

The former Shellaberger Tennis Center has been functioning as a movie studio since December as its new owner ponders the property’s future.

“It’s being used in conjunction with the rest of the Garson Studios campus,” said Phillip Gesue, principal of PE Real Estate Holdings, a New York City real estate development company.

The former tennis center is operating as Santa Fe Midtown Studios. The tennis center was part of the College of Santa Fe and later Santa Fe University of Art and Design campus but today is adjacent to what is now known as the city-owned midtown campus, where Garson Studios is located.

Gesue acquired Shellaberger on Oct. 31 and now splits his time between Santa Fe and New York City. He said he was told film production would continue until summer.

“We’re developing a larger concept and plan to make an announcement in the next couple months in spring,” he said.
