Santa Fe Pro Musica presents the Dover Quartet, which formed while the members were students at the Curtis Institute of Music. Its name pays tribute to “Dover Beach” by Curtis alumnus Samuel Barber, a work that uses the sea as a metaphor for timelessness. The program includes Mason Bates' Suite for String Quartet, George Walker's Quartet No. 1, and Dvořák's Quartet No. 10 in E-flat Major, op. 51, “Slavonic.”

Also featuring Tom Hagerman (violin, accordion), Jeanie Schroder (sousaphone, bass), and percussionist Shawn King, it emerged as an unlikely indie hero in the early 2000s by infusing modern indie music with a global flavor.
