Looking through the glass
MUSEUM OF INDIAN ARTS AND CULTURE 710 Camino Lejo, 505-476-1269, indianartsandculture.org
The exhibit Clearly Indigenous: Native Visions Reimagined in Glass is the first in the country highlighting glass as an art form for Indigenous artists. The exhibit of more than 100 glass sculptures features works by 29 Native American artists and four from New Zealand and Australia, along with celebrated glass sculptor Dale Chihuly. “The exhibition brings together a striking collection of work that tells a larger story about Indigenous cultural knowledge and artistic genius,” says Museum of Indian Arts and Culture director Della Warrior (Otoe-missouria). Objects, from the clear to the colorful, will be on display from May 16, 2021, through June 16, 2022.
